Female lead

With the change to include a female lead character, there were fundamental alterations to the meaning of the piece

Initially, we thought, with a male lead, that the script dealt with the necessary schizophrenia needed for men to exist in the modern world. There was a suggestion that in his schizophrenia, he was guilty of attempting to murder the other part of his psyche.

With a female lead, the suggestion became even more sinister.

Richard Ross identified several potential female actors. We settled on Phil Shellard, primarily because, aside from her talents, she had shown enthusiasm for the project and offered some very insightful thoughts into how the role should be imagined
